Locally Based Company Steps Up To Provide Christmas Dinners For Local People In Need

3rd December 2020

Following a year devastated by the ongoing economic and social impact of Covid-19, this October, Stafford based Altecnic Limited (part of the Caleffi Group, UK’s leading supplier of hydronic solutions) approached Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank asking how they could help to ensure that the families, who have been hit hardest, would be able to enjoy a Christmas Dinner.

In response to stark statistics, including predicted 30% increase in Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank winter usage year on year, Altecnic pledged to support 150 local families by donating the money to cover ‘Turkey and trimmings’ food vouchers.

Altecnic were also inspired by Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank’s ultimate aim to end the need for food banks. As part of this work, guests are offered the use of ‘Money Matters’ advice services to assist them access a more secure financial future.

Altecnic employees are also contributing personal food and Christmas gift donations, recognising this activity as particularly important during the winter months when household budgets are stretched to cover things like heating, food and Christmas presents.

Altecnic Managing Director, Gary Perry, stated, “With the help of our employees, we are proud to support the Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank and hope our activities encourage other local businesses to do the same. We recognise that the pandemic has contributed to an increased need for support in our local communities and as a responsible business we sought to find a partner to help us play our part.”

Caroline, Community and Business Liaison Officer at the Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank, added “It was amazingly good timing, Altecnic got in touch, just as our Operations’ Manager, Corrine was looking into the feasibility of including a Christmas food shopping voucher in our food parcels that would enable our guests to buy ‘turkey and trimmings’ from a local food chain. It was a perfect match. We are extremely grateful to Altenic and its employees, for their generous support”.

FOOTNOTE:
