New Breakfast Club Launched

5th March 2015

Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank launched it’s first school holiday Breakfast Club during February half term.

Children and young people from both Moorpark Primary and Jackfield Infants School were invited to join the holiday club, which took place at Swan Bank Methodist Church.

The club was supported by Groundworks who were responsible for delivering a cooking activity for the first hour each morning. They showed the parents and children how to prepare and serve a healthy and nutritional breakfast, which was then shared out and eaten.

Following the cooking session, the youth team took over and led team games and fitness sessions for the remainder of the morning.

One of the key objectives of the Foodbank is to link in with the City Council’s Public Health agenda by introducing activities that help with improving the health and wellbeing of all residents across Stoke-on-Trent. After positive reviews from those who attended, plans are being put together to introduce two more Breakfast Clubs for the May half term.
