Email from Foodbank guest

3rd December 2013

Last night at 5.30pm I was faced with having to use the foodbank that your wonderful ministry and parishioners supply to people like myself that have fallen upon hard times.  To any proud person this is a hard thing to have to do and for several hours prior to me arriving at the food bank I was desperately trying to come up with a solution to my hunger issue that didn’t involve me coming to your ministry…but to no avail.

Now the point to this e-mail (and I really hope you are reading this to the people of your congregation) from the bottom of my heart I would like to firstly thank the Reverend and the lovely lady (I’m sorry I don’t know her name but she is in your church today) who have for a few hours at least, shown me that the Christian spirit is still alive and well in stoke on Trent.

These people took the time to talk to me and to make me feel human again. For this I am forever in your debt.  Secondly I want to thank you the people that attend this church for putting your hands in your own pockets to ensure people like me and my grandson can enjoy a meal when we can’t afford one.

I don’t have the words to tell you how much what you all do for us means.. and finally for the first time in 20+years someone prayed for me … that was actually better than the food I had received.

May god bless each and every one of you and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for your help and compassion.
